New blog background!

Soooooo....since Cutest Blog on the Block is getting a new server and I needed to get a new blog background I thought I'd really change it up!  I tried more than a few times to get into the Cutest Blog on the Block's site, but it must have been overloaded due to everyone else trying to get their blogs updated.  I decided to do some searching for a Disney blog template and this is the one I found!  What do you think?  I'm still messing around with the font and font colors.  Not sure I like how they are, but who knows...maybe they'll stay this way.  I love having the big Mickey head on the page now!  It makes me smile!!!!  Hope everyone has a fantastic evening!  Thanks for visiting!

Happy 45th Birthday!

Please join me in wishing my amazing husband a very happy 45th birthday today!  I am so happy that he is able to be home with us today to spend it with us.  We are going to the 9:30 AM 3D showing of Despicable Me (he and the boys have been laughing over the previews for this movie it seems like for a year now!) and then a nice picnic lunch in the park.  Later I'm grilling him a nice Porterhouse steak for dinner here at home before we head downtown to the concert in the park to listen to a Beatles tribute band.  Looking forward to a wonderful family, fun-filled day!

To all of my blog followers and blogs that I follow I am so sorry I've been MIA!  The last month of the boys school was super crazy and I had so much going on.  We literally left the day the boys got out of school to start our vacation.  We had to take our dog up north about 4 hours to Grandma and Grandpa's for his vacation while we were gone and then it was off for a week at WDW for us to celebrate our oldest son, Parker's 10th birthday!  After Disney we headed to Charleston, South Carolina for a few days of relaxation right on Folly Beach.  It was so pretty and so wonderful!  The boys had a blast wave boarding and building sand castles during the day and then searching for crabs in the sand at night!  We arrived back in Michigan the Thursday before the 4th and stopped by our house only long enough to throw some bags into the house and grab a few other things we needed and then we were off to pick up our dog, Max and celebrate the 4th of July!  We did a little camping, boating, swimming, smores making and fireworks!  All in all it has been an absolute wonderful start to our summer!  I feel like we've already jam packed so much in that even if we didn't do another single thing before the boys head back to school that we've had a very successful summer vacation!

You're going places Baby!  Why yes I am!!!  I feel like I've been meeting myself coming AND going lately!  lol

Thank you so much to Sandy for acknowledging me as one of her blog award winners!  I first off have to say how sorry I am that it has taken me this long to get it posted!  The end of the school year is always super crazy (and we still have just shy of a month left!!!!) and it seems like I get very little "me" time!  I guess it's good practice for the summer though because I go from getting a few crafty projects done to basically getting NOTHING done because most of summer is spent running around, vacationing and making tons of family memories!  So for those of you who have been faith followers of my blog....stay tuned!  I promise to be back with updates eventually.  I will have a couple of projects to share with all of you before our summer fun begins.  I'm currently working on 4 sets of new Mickey head tie dyed Tshirts for our upcoming Disney trip as well as memory books for all 27 students in our youngest sons Kindergarten class.  Can you say STRESSED?  lol

To accept this blog award we are supposed to answer where we see ourselves in 10 years.  10 years?  I'm not sure what exactly I'll be doing 10 days from now! lol  Hmmmm.... let's see.....10 years from now our first born will be TWENTY!  Yikes!  Our youngest will be in HS and I'm sure keeping us very busy.  All I can pray for is that we will all still be very happy and healthy enjoying life to it's fullest!

I need to pass this award onto 10 other fabulous bloggers who I hope you will stop by and visit!  I am going to come back later to add the names because I also want to add the link to their blogs and that's going to take me longer than the time I have this morning.  Gotta get the boys up and ready for school!

If you are 30 or older ( I qualify in the 'older' part!) you just might think this is funny.  I actually laughed out loud a time or two while reading!  I received this as one of those forwarded emails that I normally never pass on, but I just couldn't resist this time....so I am sharing it with all my blog followers and hoping you get a chuckle out of it too!  Hope you all have a wonderful week! 




When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were. When they were growing up; what with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning.... Uphill... Barefoot... BOTH ways… yadda, yadda, yadda

And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on my kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it! But now that I'm over the ripe old age of thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today. You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia!


And I hate to say it, but you kids today, you don't know how good you've got it!

I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have the Internet. If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalog!!

There was no email!! We had to actually write somebody a letter - with a pen! Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox, and it would take like a week to get there! Stamps were 10 cents!

Child Protective Services didn't care if our parents beat us. As a matter of fact, the parents of all my friends also had permission to kick our ass! Nowhere was safe!

There were no MP3's or Napsters or iTunes! If you wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the record store and shoplift it yourself!

Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio, and the DJ would usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up! There were no CD players! We had tape decks in our car.. We'd play our favorite tape and "eject" it when finished, and then the tape would come undone rendering it useless. Cause, hey, that's how we rolled, Baby! Dig?

We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called, they got a busy signal, that's it! ...And don't even get me started on party lines!

There weren't any freakin' cell phones either. If you left the house, you just didn't make a damn call or receive one. You actually had to be out of touch with your "friends". OH MY GOD !!! Think of the horror... not being in touch with someone 24/7!!! And then there's TEXTING. Yeah, right. Please! You kids have no idea how annoying you are.

And we didn't have fancy Caller ID either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your parents, your boss, your bookie, your ex, the collection agent... you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!

We didn't have any fancy PlayStation or Xbox video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'Asteroids'. Your screen guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination!!! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen... Forever! And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE!

You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your ass and walk over to the TV to change the channel!!! NO REMOTES!!! Oh, no, what's the world coming to?!?!

There was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I'm saying? We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little rat-finks!

And we didn't have microwaves. If we wanted to heat something up, we had to use the stove! Imagine that!


And our parents told us to stay outside and play... all day long. Oh, no, no electronics to soothe and comfort. And if you came back inside... you were doing chores!

And car seats - oh, please! Mom threw you in the back seat and you hung on. If you were luckily, you got the "safety arm" across the chest at the last moment if she had to stop suddenly, and if your head hit the dashboard, well that was your fault for calling "shot gun" in the first place!

See! That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled rotten! You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in the 80's or any time before!
