I just found out that the 35 cards and tin that I donated for the auction to benefit the Make a Wish Foundation only went for $60! I literally could throw up right now knowing all the time I put into them. I think next year I will just be making a monetary donation. I know every penny helps, but I can't believe they went for this little.
Melissa! Don't let that upset you! I understand your disappointment... but don't let it ruin your day! : )
ReplyDeleteThe same thing happened to me! I donated a basket of around $75 worth of Stampin' Up! product to my school one year and I think it went for like $7-10. I was so upset and vowed never to donate anything craft related again!
ReplyDeleteJust quick welcome to blog-land! Sorry about the charity event. Been there, done that, won't ever do again either.
ReplyDeleteMelissa,
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that!!! I would have spend a bundle to buy that, that was so beautiful!! Sometimes, I think it's just the audience. I have some CM albums at my garage sale (brand new 7" with special design) for $10. People ask me if it was for 10 CENTS. AUGH!!!!
I know how you feel but sometime I don't think people appreciate all the effort, time and money that goes into craft projects.
ReplyDeleteIt really does depend on the audience. Sometimes the 'bargain hunter' overtakes the 'charitible giver' and then the charity suffers. Too bad because I, like all of you have donated crafted items (jewelry) and the charity will not even receive the value of the materials.
ReplyDeleteThat is sad!.. I'm sorry it didn't work out the way you planned, but just think..Your time and effort for all your hard work will be rewarded!!.. You wait and see..
ReplyDeleteOh Melissa, hugs to you. People just do not appreciate hand made stuff in the main, and it is so discouraging. Your stuff is lovely, don't let this get you down.
ReplyDeleteHi Melissa,
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about your disappointment...your cards and tin were so beautiful...any one of us who crafts would know how much time & effort you spent making them. But hey, I'm so thrilled that you have decided to join the blogging world so now I can view all your wonderful creations all in one place! Love, love, love all the cards & scrapbook pages you created!
Oh honey, that SUCKS. Let's just hope the person who won them will send donations to all kinds of charities using your cards, and they can be the vessels for all kinds of good and happy things! It's too bad the auction wasn't to the folks on the MB--you would have gotten a TON--just because we know the time and effort you put into them! Hugs!
