I ran across a blog about a month ago that has absolutely nothing to do with crafting or Disney and I have to say that it has quickly became one of my top 10 blogs to visit each and every day. It is called Single Dad Laughing He has a way about his writing that intrigues me and often makes me laugh out loud. This morning his post hit a spot in my heart and I just had to share it with all of you. I've been feeling a bit sorry for myself lately and this was the perfect reality check for me to remind me just how blessed and fortunate I truly am.
Please stop by Dan's blog if you get a minute. One Christmas Day Dan along with some of his friends headed to the homeless district in downtown Salt Lake City for a day of dancing. He was down in the dumps and feeling bad about his own personal situation and this is the video he shared with us of what happened when he walked up to complete strangers who were living on the cold street. It's hard to feel sorry for yourself when people you might perceive as having nothing...still have things to be thankful for. It was an "aha" moment for me this morning.
In order to be able to view and hear this video properly, you will need to scroll to the bottom of my homepage and pause my music. Have a wonderful Wednesday my friends!
What a beautiful thing. For a few brief moments everyone had smiles on their faces and not a care in the world. Music really can bring people together.
ReplyDeleteMelissa, I think there's another website you might want to check out. It's couponingtodisney.com . The lady who runs this site is named Kristin and she is a huge Disney fan too. She shows people how to save money for those extra things in life we want like trips to Disney. The two of you have a couple things in common. Besides your love of Disney, she's also gone through some tough times recently. Her grandfather passed away, her young daughter had an emergency appendectomy, and Kristin herself had a miscarriage in October. She wrote about all this on her site and yet through it all she has remained positive and upbeat and so strong. I think her sharing everything with her followers was kind of like therapy and it helped her get through one day at a time. In fact right now she and her family are in Disney World and she is sharing her trip with us through pictures and postings. At the beginning of the trip, she said she felt like it was a turning point for her and her family that it was okay for them go on with life and be happy. I just thought her site might be something you would like too. Like I said, given the losses you both recently had and your mutual love of Disney, it seems like you two could become friends even across the miles via the internet. Sorry to be so long, but I just wanted to explain about Kristin and her site and why I think you should check it out. Melissa, I hope you feel better and please take care.

Oh Denise thank you!!!!! I can't believe I've never been to that sight before...it's a good one! I have a lot of exploring to do over there now! :)
ReplyDeleteMelissa, you're welcome. I'd thought you'd enjoy another Disney lover's site. I know it's not a scrapbooking site but it's still full of Disney stuff. Take care.
ReplyDeleteHi Melissa
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon. Stay positive! I can't see the video due to some copyright issue in my country but anything that inspires you and makes you laugh out loud must be a good thing!
I've only been to Euro Disney...you must have been to all!
Cheers
Y.
Love it Mellisa! It really is amazing how doing something so small can bring joy and make people smile. Also, makes you realize just how lucky we are. Thank you for sharing.
