Make up own holiday challenge!

The challenge for March for Karel's design team was to create your own holiday.  March 2nd was officially 100 days away from the start of our summer vacation so we decided to celebrate!  We are all ready for summer vacation and having a break from our over scheduled daily routines and look forward to just having some fun family time!  We have a Disney fund container that all of our change (and sometimes $ bills) goes into to save for spending money during our Disney trips, but I thought it would be fun for our celebration to start another container that will be used for special little things this summer.  If we want to head down for an ice cream cone or play a round of mini golf we will just dip into the container!

My project started with an empty Pub Mix container from Costco!  Of course we had to eat the yummy pub mix in order to use it!  Ahhhh, the trials and tribulations of a committed crafter!

After a little Gypsy work and some paper and ribbon we had this!

The patterned background paper is by Creative Imaginations and it took 1 and a 1/2 sheets of 12X12 paper to cover the plastic container.

I used my Gypsy to weld all the letters and words together.  "Summer", "Vacation" and "Days" were all cut from the Birthday Bash Cricut cartridge.  "100" was cut from the Robotz cartridge and "til" was cut from the Boys Will be Boys cartridge.  The sun was cut from Every Day Paper Doll cartridge and I used my fantabulous pink ATG to adhere everything to the background paper!

The yellow ribbon around the top finished off with a bow and a button were all from my stash.

Hope you all have a super Sunday!  Today is our school auction and I cannot wait to start with all the bidding and fun after we get everything set up and ready to go!  Hopefully luck will be on my side for the game of chance auction items I'm going for and that nobody will outbid me on the other things I would like to have...especially the mosaic vase we did for Tanner's class.  I think he would be pretty heartbroken if I don't come home with it.

Be sure to come back next weekend for our first ever Disney/Pixar Blog Hop!!!

  1. Great idea! I am so ready for summer and our next Disney trip too. I might just make me one of those for our laundry room. I am forever finding change in my dryer. LOL! (ps.Love the music on your blog!)
