For the over 30 crowd! ;-)

If you are 30 or older ( I qualify in the 'older' part!) you just might think this is funny.  I actually laughed out loud a time or two while reading!  I received this as one of those forwarded emails that I normally never pass on, but I just couldn't resist this time....so I am sharing it with all my blog followers and hoping you get a chuckle out of it too!  Hope you all have a wonderful week!

When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were. When they were growing up; what with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning.... Uphill... Barefoot... BOTH ways… yadda, yadda, yadda

And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on my kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it! But now that I'm over the ripe old age of thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today. You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia!

And I hate to say it, but you kids today, you don't know how good you've got it!

I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have the Internet. If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalog!!

There was no email!! We had to actually write somebody a letter - with a pen! Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox, and it would take like a week to get there! Stamps were 10 cents!

Child Protective Services didn't care if our parents beat us. As a matter of fact, the parents of all my friends also had permission to kick our ass! Nowhere was safe!

There were no MP3's or Napsters or iTunes! If you wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the record store and shoplift it yourself!

Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio, and the DJ would usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up! There were no CD players! We had tape decks in our car.. We'd play our favorite tape and "eject" it when finished, and then the tape would come undone rendering it useless. Cause, hey, that's how we rolled, Baby! Dig?

We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called, they got a busy signal, that's it! ...And don't even get me started on party lines!

There weren't any freakin' cell phones either. If you left the house, you just didn't make a damn call or receive one. You actually had to be out of touch with your "friends". OH MY GOD !!! Think of the horror... not being in touch with someone 24/7!!! And then there's TEXTING. Yeah, right. Please! You kids have no idea how annoying you are.

And we didn't have fancy Caller ID either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your parents, your boss, your bookie, your ex, the collection agent... you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!

We didn't have any fancy PlayStation or Xbox video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'Asteroids'. Your screen guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination!!! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen... Forever! And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE!

You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your ass and walk over to the TV to change the channel!!! NO REMOTES!!! Oh, no, what's the world coming to?!?!

There was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I'm saying? We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little rat-finks!

And we didn't have microwaves. If we wanted to heat something up, we had to use the stove! Imagine that!

And our parents told us to stay outside and play... all day long. Oh, no, no electronics to soothe and comfort. And if you came back inside... you were doing chores!

And car seats - oh, please! Mom threw you in the back seat and you hung on. If you were luckily, you got the "safety arm" across the chest at the last moment if she had to stop suddenly, and if your head hit the dashboard, well that was your fault for calling "shot gun" in the first place!

See! That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled rotten! You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in the 80's or any time before!

Home from the crop!

Hello everyone!
Made it home Sunday night after a weekend of friends, food, shopping and cropping!  I didn't get as much done as I would have liked, but I sure did have a lot of fun!  I ended up finishing 20 more pages of our December 2008 WDW trip.  I probably won't have time to get those uploaded and posted this week, but hopefully I can find some time this weekend to get them out of my camera!  lol

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and has a wonderful week!

TOMORROW!!!!

My get-a-way scrapping weekend is just about here!  I absolutely love it when I get the chance to go scrapping with my girlfriends for the weekend.  It doesn't happen nearly as often as I would like, but I think that is what makes it even more special!

Cindy is driving in from Pennsylvania and plans on being here early in the morning so we can have a little retail therapy before getting to the hotel to set up our stuff!  We should be back to the hotel and starting that long, tedious journey of unloading and setting up all of our supplies by noon.  I literally take pretty much everything with me except for the kitchen sink.....and that's ONLY because they supply two sinks in the conference room we scrap in! lol

Today is my good friend T-Nina's last day of tax season 2010 so she will be heading up from Indiana tomorrow for some much needed R&R and scrapping fun!  Hope she's bringing me a Vera!!!!!!  :-)

Last, but certainly not least.....my VERY pregnant friend Kim is making the 3 1/2 hour trek down from up north to be with us!!!  She has about a month to go before her new little boy should be blessing us all with his presence, but she decided she just couldn't stay away!  Keep your fingers crossed that her water doesn't break until she makes it back home safely with her hubby and her other two cuter than cute little boys on Sunday!

Now I just need to get all my stuff packed up and ready to go!  YIKES!  Hope you all have a very happy, scrappy weekend!!!!

The garden basket for our school auction

Here is what our garden basket ended up looking like that we donated for the school auction on behalf of my son's Kindergarten class.  We also had a wheelbarrow and an iron fire pit that we broke off into separate lots because we thought it would bring in more money that way.  Our total raised ended up being $410!!!!  This was the 2nd largest amount brought in for a single donation that night and we were super excited!  The basket full of goodies alone went for $280!

Two tiles for our school auction

I've needed to get these posted for awhile now.  Here are the two 12X12 tiles I made and donated to our school auction.  I was so excited that my friend Stephanie won the "Live, Laugh, Love" tile!  Now I will get to see it everytime I go over to her house!

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by, look and comment!  Hope you have a wonderful day!

Teacher Tile

Our oldest son is in the 4th grade and they have had a student teacher this year.  Her last day was a week ago just before we started on our Spring Break.  We had a nice canvas bag made for her and had each of the students bring in a copy of their favorite book to get her started on her own classroom library.  We also had a little going away party complete with brownies and punch!  Parker asked me if I could make Ms. Carter a classroom tile like I had made for his teacher for Christmas and how could I say 'no'?!  I couldn't!  Here is the 12X12 tile that we ended up giving her.  Used EDPD and welded them together in my Gypsy for the kids and the font is Plantin Schoolbook.  Thanks for taking the time to look and comment!

Spring Break!

It is Spring Break for my boys from their school and although I would love to be someplace warm and sunny doing something fun, that just wasn't in the cards for us.  The boys, the puppy and I are up at my parents for a few days while the hubby is hard at work.  I was going to bring my Cricut with me and work on some cuts for my upcoming scrapping weekend, but I didn't feel like packing and carting all my stuff up here.  Instead I decided to bring my laptop and my external hard drive and work on getting the THOUSANDS of photos from our August/September 2009 WDW trip uploaded to Costco.com and get them all edited so I can decide which ones I am going to order.  I am currently on day 10 of 12 of the uploading part.  I've already spent hours upon hours doing this and I still have to edited all that I pick.  I haven't even touched the 3 CD's of Photopass pictures!  Thank goodness those are already edited and just need to be uploaded!  My goal is to finish this process before heading home later this week.  This is something that is near impossible to complete when I'm home since there is always a zillion other more important things to do when I'm there!

I will try and post a few of the projects that I have been promising for the past week or so.  I need to look back and see what I've already posted and what still needs to be posted.  I know I have a few 12X12 tiles still to share and some photos from the school auction.  Hope everyone has a fabulous week!

Cricut Board challenge for Autism Awarness month!

Cynthia posted a challenge over on the Cricut Board.  I've never participated in one of these challenges, but when I read on Joy's blog that it was for Autism Awarness Month...that was all I needed to know.  One of my dearest friends has a 16 year old son with autism and anything that I can do to help bring attention to him and what they go through on a daily basis is so very little to ask.  The challenge was to use a puzzle piece which is the symbol used to represent Autism.  I knew right away that I wanted to cut a card in the shape of a heart and use the main colors seen on the puzzle piece Autism ribbons for the front of my card.  I used the heart card cut from Wild Card and the puzzle pieces I cut from Don Juan.  I decided to leave the card blank so they could use it however they would like once they receive it.  I am honored to be part of this challenge.

If you would like further information on the challenge or would like to participate please follow this link to the thread posted on the Cricut Board.  www.cricut.com/messageboard/tm.aspx?m=6445745

No internet at home!

Hello everyone!  Sorry I've been MIA, but our internet is out at home....think we need a new router, which the hubby should be home to replace tomorrow!  Thank goodness!!!  Not being able to hop on the computer whenever I want to is a huge inconvenience!  Right now I am at the library catching up on my email and wanted to add this quick post to my blog.  I should be back on regularly no later than Saturday and I have some more things that need to be posted and shared!  Stay tuned!
Happy April to everyone!  Our weather is absolutely gorgeous and we are headed outside for the rest of the day!  Have a great one!
